Fly Review - Attractor/Lures

 Having started the 'comeback' season with a random selection of flies and lures that were purchased without any real thought behind them I am going to use the off season to have a proper think about the flies I want to carry and how they will fish together. I don't want to be in the situation I was at Draycote where I have no belief in the team of flies that I am using First off will take a look at Attractors/Lures Ideally brightly coloured with lots of movement, will split into 2 categories, buoyant and non non buoyant Non Buoyant Blobs - essentially non buoyant FABS, can be fished fast or slow Cocktail "Tequila" Blob (Orange and Yellow) Ham & Cheese Blob (Yellow and Pink) Orange Blob Sunburst Blob Cormorant  - slimmer profile but plenty of movement again fast or slow  Candy Cormorant Cat Cormorant Viva Cormorant Buoyant FABS - after the success of the orange (Sunburst) FAB at Draycote on my last trip I cannot not have a few FABS in the box FAB Sunburst FAB ...

Decsion on New Reels

 Done a reasonable amount of research and it seems that the cassette reel is the way forwards in terms of being able to accomodate at least 6 lines at a reasonable cost and without taking up too much space. Top end reels seem to be made from machined aluminium and are much more durable than reels not made from machined aluminium but this comes with a not inconsiderable additonal cost (they seem to start at about £200) which is not an amount of money I am willing to spend at the moment So looking for a die cast cassette reel and there are a vast multitude of options available, decided that I do not want to go for the cheapest options as I would like them to last for many years - this is despite the fact that my rimfly's are still going strong and they were certainly not expensive when I bought them Having got some Wychwood lines (and a few other bits of kit) and done plenty of research I have landed on the Wychwood Truefly SLA MK11 which comes with 2 spare cassettes.
